A white, blue flash lighted up the sky above the southern Russian city of Stavropol. The mysterious flash has triggered a debate over its origins after a dashcam captured the strange light’s aerial activity.
Interestingly, the soundless flash of light made some streetlights to malfunction or go out. Several people in the area got scared after their lights in the apartments and houses also flickered for no apparent reasons at around 00:39 local time or 21:39 GMT on Monday.
Local residents have mixed theories and interpretations about the incident. Among the arguments presented by online commenters are military exercises nearby, electricity net problems, an asteroid, Northern Lights, and, of course, the popular one, UFOs.
According to the Argumenty i Fakty report, a woman shared her experience on social media saying that she was very frightened by her experience. She said that she was in bed and saw a dazzling light that lit up her ceiling.
The Hydrometeorological Center of the city said that the phenomenon can’t be attributed to nature but could be anthropogenic, theorizing that the source of light was somewhere on the ground.
However, power engineers ruled out the theory pointing to power supply problem. The public still clueless about the nature of the strange aerial flash.

Heavy impact for sure.
that was very weird and cool that someone caught it!

A very similar thing happened where I live in Australia.
However there were 2 silent flashes 5 seconds apart which lit up the whole night sky. After the second flash all the street lights went out and then I saw a light object move in a very swift fashion through the clouds and just whooshed away. The incident occurred around 10.30 pm in Sept 2012.
some weird stuff going on in Russia..... again. Looks like there is some activity happening all over....keep your cameras ready, might be in for encounters for awhile.
