This is the second video that has been posted of this on this site. There is a full video from NASA and you see that it is a shield that covers the inner structure. They are replacing it with an identical one. The black strips on it are velcro fasteners. They do not save replaced things in space, they let them drop into the atmosphere to burn up if not toxic.
