I live on the west side of Manhattan over looking the Hudson river. These lights are planes taking off from Newark Int'l airport. I have a perfect view further north as the planes make their approach from the west and then turn south to the airport. These planes are all making the turn on their ascent from the airport which lies to the southwest of Manhattan. Just check a google map!
Interesting, they do all seem to be tracking the same flight path … but do so many really take off so close together like that? Seems like a lot of planes all going up at once, are the airways really this crowded?
