UFO Alert 3 has been given to California, Michigan, Florida, and Texas on the updated National UFO Alert Rating System. These three states reported the highest UFO sightings during December 2012, which were filed in the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON).
California reported 75 cases of UFO sightings in December, which was the leading high-reporting state during the month. The state has 53 cases in November, 83 in October, 69 and 75 cases in September and August respectively.
Michigan has 45 reported cases, 42 from Florida, and 38 cases from Texas. Those states with lower number of UFO sighting reports are in UFO Alert 4 and 5 categories.
The most common UFO is the sphere with 158 reports in December, down from previous months with 168 in November, 161 in October, 246 and 238 reports in September and August respectively.

The reported distances between the UFOs and the witnesses are also documented which include:
– 71 cases of less than 100 feet
– 92 cases of 101- 500 feet
– 140 cases of 510 feet to a mile
– 146 cases of over a mile
– 190 cases of unknown
– 8 cases of no value
