A former U.S. Air Force major shared his UFO encounter to Congress members during the last day of the week long Citizen Hearing on extraterrestrial sightings at the National Press Club on May 3.
Sharing his interest in unidentified flying objects at the hearing, Major George Filer III said that UFOs have been occasionally roaming the skies for thousands of years.
In January 1962, Filer was serving as an Air Force intelligence officer and a pilot stationed at the AF base at Sculthorpe RAF Base in England when he was alerted by the London Control about UFO detected by the radar.
He said that he headed toward the location of the said craft, which was around 1,000 feet above an area near Oxford and Stonehenge.
The KB-50 J tanker aircraft used by Filer exceeded the redline maximum speed just to get to the local. However, he said that the control tower had cleared the location and was calling out the distance to the said UFO.
Filer was one of the 39 people who made testimonies during the hearing. These UFO witnesses included former military members, researchers, former federal agency officers and ordinary citizens.
I say "bravo" to Maj. George Filer for his steadfast contribution to UFOLOGY and his courage and commitment to the study of this phenomenon. Please accept my dearest regrets for the recent losses of both of your daughters, sir. I have two children and couldn't imagine the greif you must be experiencing at this time. God give you strength and may they be happy in Heaven waiting to
