There is a popular misconception that UFO sightings tend to be restricted to small groups of witnesses in isolated areas, without corroboration from other sources. However, it takes only one case to smash to this long-held myth. The Hudson Valley sightings, in which an estimated 7000 witnesses saw gigantic formations of lights drift silently through the sky north of New York City, spanned more than 13 years through the 80s and early 90s. The sheer number of independent witnesses to unexplained lights and craft attests to the reality of their claims, and the consistency of their various reports compels us to take a more serious look at the UFO phenomenon, even in the face of official denial.
read IN THE NIGHT SKY, a book about UFO sightings in the Hudson Valley…fascinating
This is what got me into the whole UFO thing. I saw that exact thing(pictured above) when I was about 7-8 yrs old. Walked out of my Uncles house in Rhinebeck who had a vast easterly view and that thing was floating there. Moving very slow. My whole family saw it. Took pictures with a stone-age camera and none of them came out. If that was a bunch of Ultralight pilots I would be REALLY impressed with their flying skills. Thing looked circular. Couldnt tell if it was a solid object or not. Just mentioned this to my Dad a while ago and he says he doesnt remember. I remember like it was yesterday. Some of the other images in the video look like planes flying in formation, I will say that. Very obvious. This circular thing though. No way. I count 22 planes flying in exact formation? Doubt it. My only thought is that it could have been some type of blimp.
Jeff, I had the same experience at the same age (7-8 yrs old) in the 80s. The strange thing is that I am from Colombia, and that experience was in my grandparents’ farm in a place with a height 2.200 m above mean sea level. The object was the same of the picture and its movement was very slow and without a sound. When it reached a near hill I ran to that point and when I came there, the UFO was gone.
I saw this in the 80’s. I might have been 4 or 5. It was hovering over our house and moving clockwise very slowly. With every turn a different color would shine. I remember it being close enough that I could see the silver of the ship and at the time I thought it was a really big ring that could float. I saw it one more time around that same timeframe and then never again until I saw this picture. Everyone thought I had been making it up.
I also saw this in the early 80’s in Brandon, Fl. My mother said to never tell anyone. She said that no one would believe us. It was round with rainbow colored lights. It was spinning the entire time. It was kind of a wobbly type flyt pattern. It hovered for about an hour and then zoomed away so fast that it didn’t look real. We blocked it out for many years. My mother reminded me of it about 5 years ago. I was only 5 or 6 but I remember it very vividly. Our neighbors witnessed it too. We had a neighbor that called it in to McDill airforce base but we never heard a word back from them. It was very strange.
